Marte app for iPhone and iPad

The exhibition ‘Marte - close encounters with the red planet to recount to the general public the history of Mars exploration and the important Italian contributions in this adventure. The project thus has as its objective to illustrate the current state of knowledge we have on Mars via the data and images granted to us through the most advanced space technology: from the first ‘historic’ images from the Viking probes through to the European Mars Ex-press probe, the American Curiosity and Opportunity rovers, and the American Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter probe.encounters

The rich and spectacular display of images sent to Earth from these probes will also allow visitors to have their own ‘close encounter’ with the tormented and fascinating Martian landscape, with its deep canyons, expanses of dunes with their distinctive and unpredictable shapes and colours, towering volcanoes, enormous craters and sweeping plains, along with the precious traces of water discovered at its poles, are now also available on the app.
The exhibition also intends to be a tribute to the European ExoMars programme, established with an im-portant Italian contribution, whose objective is to ob-tain a thorough understanding of the Red Planet, with a perspective to its colonisation.

Finally is a look at what the future might hold with the space agency and private sector programmes for the colonisation of Mars, concluding with a spectacular and immersive video installation, inspired by images from the new television series, MARS, produced by Ron Howard.
